What is the Work Activity Program?

  • The Work Activity Program (WAP) is a job skills training program for individuals with little to no previous work experience

  • Designed to provide basic foundational training to get and keep a job

What type of work would I do?

  • The WAP program offers a variety of paid work and job training options

  • Piece rated jobs such as ad inserting, paper sorting, collating, envelope stuffing and small parts assembly work is available in our Assembly Area

  • Once an initial work evaluation is completed, other WAP options include placement in any one of PSW’s 30 hourly paid, integrated work groups.

What Type of Training Would I Receive?

  • Job skills and work habits (arriving on time, following directions)

  • Social skills training-getting along with others, resolving conflict

  • Counseling

  • Individualized goal planning

  • Preparation for referral to the Supported Employment Group Program

Who Do We Serve?

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Intellectually / Developmentally disabled

  • Multiple disabilities

  • Autistic

  • Ambulatory and non-ambulatory

  • Ability to attend to self-care needs
